John Midgley

IMG_2732John was an equity partner in KPMG until he left and commenced practice as Midgley Partners in 1998. As you would expect, John is a member of Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand (CAANZ) and Midgley Partners is a founding member of a nation-wide accounting group NZCA. John has been advising business owners over many years and has developed particular skills in strategy, planning, business and financial engineering. His fresh thinking comes from a desire to give clients the best advice possible. Outside of work he enjoys tennis, sailing and restoring classic and vintage vehicles.

Jane Midgley

IMG_2705Jane helped with the formation of Midgley Partners and fills the role of Business Manager and administrator, making good use of her Commerce Degree. Jane has been the force in bringing up four children and now enjoys being actively involved in advising some of Midgley Partners’ women clients. Out of work she enjoys reading a good book and experimenting with new cooking recipes.

Adam Coleman

IMG_2747Adam is a qualified Chartered Accountant with more than 8 years’ business advisory experience. Adam initially began his career at Midgley Partners after graduating from Lincoln University in 2008. Cricket then took him to London for an English summer before returning to NZ in 2010. He then worked for 5 years at two large Accountancy firms. In April 2015 Adam returned as a Manager to where it all started at Midgley Partners.

With a strong emphasis on looking beyond the numbers and providing forward thinking strategies, Adam has assisted in a range of diverse Accounting requirements including business acquisitions/valuations, cash flow & budgeting forecasts. Additionally, he has ever increasing exposure to Australian clients’ reporting requirements – alongside regulatory annual financial reporting and NZ taxation requirements. Adam provides an innovative and enthusiastic approach to his role. His vast knowledge of client requirements in regards to accounting software, especially Xero & MYOB, ensures he finds the ‘best fit’ for his clients and stays on-top of the ever increasing technology now available.

Adam is a very personable and friendly individual who takes time to listen to his clients’ requirements and builds strong relationships with both clients and fellow staff.

Outside of work Adam can be found on the Cricket pitch during the summer months which he has played at a representative level. His other hobbies include running, skiing and travelling.

Brenda Lister

IMG_2694Brenda has worked at Midgley Partners since mid-2012.  She completed a NZ Diploma of Business at CPIT and now holds an Accounting Technician qualification with CAANZ.  Brenda is currently studying toward a Bachelor of Applied Management at CPIT. She is Xero Certified and is the go-to person for Xero here at Midgley Partners. In her spare time she likes to keep fit by running, going to the gym and playing indoor netball.

Tom Verdonk

IMG_2751Tom graduated from the University of Otago in 2012 with a Commerce degree majoring in Accounting and Economics. He is now part way through his studies to become a qualified Chartered Accountant. He is our go-to person for Quickbooks.

Outside the office Tom spends his time hunting, fishing and playing rugby in the winter.

Jessica Barker

Jessica has recently completed a Commerce degree at the University of Canterbury, majoring in Tax and Accounting. She is currently working her way towards being a Chartered Accountant and becoming a member of CAANZ. She has strong computer skills in Excel, Word and Xero, and is Xero certified.

Jessica recently completed an internship in Beijing, China for a boutique banking corporation where she was entrusted to complete financial research and analysis. Whilst in China she also studied and backpacked throughout central and western China.

Outside of work Jessica enjoy mountain biking, dancing, snowboarding, tramping and travelling.

George Hardwick-Smith

George originally moved to Christchurch from rural Taranaki in 2013 to study at the University of Canterbury. He graduated with a Bachelor of Commerce majoring in Finance, Accounting & Taxation, before starting at Midgley Partners as a Graduate Accountant in early 2016. He is Xero Certified. Outside the office George plays rugby and enjoys snowboarding at the nearby mountains.
